DHAKA, July 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee Member Professor Dr A Z M Zahid Hossain today said the accomplices of the fallen fascist Sheikh Hasina's government are conspiring to destroy the nation's unity.

"The autocrat's accomplices are engaged in conspiracies across the country. They aim to undermine the national unity forged on August 5 through their schemes," he said.

Fascist Sheikh Hasina had tried to stay in power until 2042 but didn't succeed, and they won't succeed this time either, he added.

Dr Zahid made these remarks while addressing a protest programme titled "Protest Against Conspiracies to Destroy the Democratic Environment" at the National Press Club.

Bangladesh Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad (United Professionals' Council) organised the event.

The BNP Standing Committee Member said, "Begum Khaleda Zia, the uncompromising leader for democracy, has dedicated her entire life to this cause. Today, even she is being ridiculed. Is this the language of politics? No, this is the language of autocracy, which the people of this country have never accepted."

Calling for the protecting the anti-fascist unity that emerged in Bangladeshi politics after the mass uprising, he said, "The country was freed from autocracy through the collective strength of everyone. If this unity is destroyed, the fascist forces will benefit. Therefore, the anti-autocracy unity must be maintained at all costs."

He further urged all parties to maintain political decorum, adding, "Under no circumstances should any comments be made that may destroy national unity or give the fascists an opportunity to rise again."

Zainul Abedin Faruque, adviser to the BNP Chairperson, and Qader Gani Chowdhury, Secretary General of Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and leaders and activists, participated in the event.
