Tarique Rahman mourns death of former MP Mannan

DHAKA, July 18, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of four-time Member of Parliament (MP) Abdul Mannan Talukder of Sirajganj-3 (Raiganj-Tarash) constituency.

In a condolence message, he said Abdul Mannan was well-known as a popular leader in his area. 

"He deeply believed in the principles and ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam and Bangladeshi nationalist philosophy," said Tarique Rahman.

The BNP Acting Chairman said Mannan worked dedicatedly to organize and strengthen BNP in Sirajganj region. 

He used to do politics with the great goal of public service and contributed greatly to the development and progress of his area while he was a member of parliament, said Tarique Rahman. 

He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul of and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family.

Abdul Mannan Talukder breathed his last at his residence in the capital today around 11 am. He was 89.

He was a member of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's advisory council and an executive member of Sirajganj district BNP. 

He was elected as a member of parliament in the 1991, February 1996, June 1996 and 2001 national elections (four consecutive times). He was also the former president of Sirajganj district BNP.
