New culture of fear being created after mass uprising: Nahid

BANDARBAN, July 20, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam has said a new culture of fear is being created in Bangladesh after the mass uprising.

"An attempt was made to attack us in Chawkaria in Cox's Bazar. After the mass uprising, a new culture of fear is being created in Bangladesh. We said that we will build a Bangladesh of harmony and solidarity," he said.

Addressing a street rally in front of Bandarban Press Club here on Saturday, Nahid said if someone wants to create a culture of fear in the future, the people will take to the streets again.

He said those who committed genocide, looted and deprived people from their rights must be brought to justice and the state must be reformed and made democratic.

Chief Organiser of Southern region Hasnat Abdullah, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Zara and Jobayerul Hasan Arif, Senior Joint Convener Samantha Sharmin, Chief Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwari, Chattogram Hill Tracts Region Supervisor Emon Syed, Chattogram Metropolitan and District Region Supervisor and Bandarban District Chief Coordinator Shahidur Rahman Sohel, among others, addressed the rally.
