NARSINGDI, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member and former minister Dr. Abdul Moyeen Khan today emphasized that true democracy is a system that guarantees the rights of all citizens and allows everyone to freely express their opinions.

"If only one person speaks and imposes authority, that can never be democracy; that would be dictatorship," he said.

He made the remarks this afternoon while speaking as the chief guest at a BNP-organized roadside rally in Panditpara village under Palash upazila in Narsingdi.

Dr. Moyeen Khan noted, "The democracy for which the people of this country struggled for 15 long years has just begun its journey a year ago. It will be fully realized through a free and fair election in the upcoming national polls."

He further said BNP supports a democracy where citizens' voting rights are ensured, economic freedom is protected and freedom of speech is upheld.

"BNP does not impose anything on anyone; it engages in politics by listening to the people and considering their advice," he added.

The rally was presided over by Firoz Molla, president of Jinardi Union BNP.

Palash Upazila BNP president Abdus Sattar, general secretary Saiful Haque, joint secretary Bahaauddin Bhuiyan Milton, Ghorashal Municipality BNP president Alam Molla, general secretary Delwar Hossain, Palash Thana Chhatra Dal convener Nazmul Hossain Sohel, member secretary Mostafizur Rahman Papon and other local leaders were present at the event.
