DHAKA, Sept 20, 2025 (BSS) - The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today launched three separate enforcement drives and found irregularities in construction of a bridge, a school building and rendering of heathcare services.
The ACC teams during their drives visited the spots, verified related deed and documents and found proofs of irregularities during the primary investigation.
An enforcement team of the ACC conducted a drive at the office of the Executive Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) Dhaka district at Agargaon area. The team conducted the drive following an allegation of corruption in constructing a 270-meter long bridge on Ichamati River at Nababganj upazila of the district. The team examined the related documents of the bridge and later visited Bandura area of the upazila.
While visiting the project site, the team found that the construction of eight, out of nine spans of the bridge was completed and the construction of arch span was still unfinished. But the LGED office showed in papers that 95 percent construction work of the bridge has already been completed and they have already paid all the bills worth about Taka 50,84,29,077 to the contractor.
Another team of the ACC today conducted a separate drive at Gabtoli area of the capital to see the construction work of a five-story primary school building. The team saw that the contractor has constructed only two floors of the building but the authority has already paid bills of four floors to the contractor. The team collected some documents from the project site and the remaining documents will be collected from its concerned office. The team will submit the final report to the ACC headquarters soon.
Another team of Noakhali District Integrated Office in guise of patients raided at Sonaimuri Upazila Health Complex to see the mismanagement and irregularities of the hospital. The team during the drive saw that the hospital authority has not provided adequate medicine to the poor patients despite having enough stock.
The team found that there was no stock registrar in the hospital and the hospital authority provided almost half of the allocated cooked meat to the patients.
