DHAKA, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today said they overnight arrested two people including husband of a murdered woman suspecting their link to the killing.

According to a DMP statement they arrested the two yesterday three days after recovery of the body of 35-year-old Bithi Akhter from a playground under Turag Police Station.

Akhter went missing on September 14 while police launched an investigation based on a general diary filed by her mother Monowara Begum initially filed a general diary (GD) with Cantonment Police Station.

But after the recovery of the body Monwara filed a murder case.

The statement said Turag and Pallabi police stations first arrested Akhter’s husband Babul from Mirpur DOHS area yesterday based on secret information.

Later in line with information secured from him police arrested another suspect Samrat from Kalapani area of Mirpur on the same day.

DMP suspected the murder to be the outcome of a family dispute and said the two arrested suspects confessed their involvement in the murder under section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) before a magistrate as well.
