CUCSU polls: 410 to contest for 27 posts

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS)- Election Commission has published a final 
list totaling 410 candidates vying for different posts for the upcoming Chattogram University Central Students' Union (CUCSU) election.
 
After scrutiny, the commission has published the list in its website today 
declaring 410 nomination papers valid while 19 cancelled.
 
Among the 410 candidates, 23 are vying for the Vice-President (VP) post, 
while 21 for the General Secretary (GS) post and 21 also for Assistant 
General Secretary (AGS) post. 

All the candidates will contest for 27 designated posts. CUSCU election is 
scheduled to be held on October 12 after 35 years.
 
Professor AKM Ariful Haque Siddiqui, member secretary of the CUCSU Election 
Commission, announced that nomination papers of 19 candidates against 
different posts have been declared disqualified after the initial scrutiny. 
Disqualified candidates have the option to appeal for restoring their 
candidature, he added.

A total of 11 candidates will contest for the posts of Sports Affairs 
Secretary while 12 for Joint and Sports Affairs Secretary, 16 for Literature, 
Culture and Publications Secretary, 16 for Joint Literature, Culture and 
Publications Secretary, 18 for Office Secretary, 13 for Assistant Office 
Secretary, 12 for Student Welfare Secretary, 11 for Assistant Student Welfare 
Secretary, 11 for Science and Information Technology Secretary, 13 for 
Research and Innovation Secretary, 20 for Social Service and Environment 
Secretary, 17 for Health Affairs Secretary, 17 for Liberation War and 
Democratic Movement Secretary, 16 for Career Development and International 
Secretary, 20 for Communication and Housing Secretary, 14 for Assistant 
Communication and Housing Secretary, 11 for Law and Human Rights Secretary 
and 19 for Library and Cafeteria Secretary.

The Election Commission has declared valid 80 out of 84 nomination forms 
submitted for the five executive member positions.
