DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - Danish Ambassador Christian Brix Moller to Bangladesh today called on BNP standing committee member Dr. A. Moyeen Khan at his Gulshan residence here.
During the meeting, they discussed the current political landscape in the country and explore avenues for future economic and social collaboration.
The meeting also focused on the roles and policy positions of various political parties ahead of the upcoming general elections.
Dr. Moyeen Khan reiterated BNP's commitment to liberal democratic principles, saying that the party is focused on creating a peaceful, stable and inclusive environment that would attract foreign investment and support sustainable economic growth.
Ambassador Moller expressed Denmark's keen interest in infrastructure development and renewable energy projects, particularly in the Chattogram port area and along the coastal belt from Cox's Bazar to Teknaf, with potential investments estimated at around US$2 billion.
The two also discussed long-term development possibilities, including land reclamation projects from the Bay of Bengal, where Moyeen Khan suggested that Denmark's expertise could make a significant contribution.
In addition, they exchanged views on the prospects of establishing an Upper House of Parliament and introducing a Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system.
Moyeen Khan elaborated on the pros and cons of each model, noting important contextual differences between Bangladesh and European political systems.
Both leaders expressed optimism for stronger economic and diplomatic ties between Bangladesh and Denmark, contingent on the development of a stable democratic framework within the country.
