2,544kg of banned polythene seized during drives in two districts

DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Environment conducted mobile court drives yesterday in Bhola and Narail districts.

During the drives, two cases were filed for producing, selling, supplying, and marketing banned polythene. A total fine of Taka 2.20 lakh was realized, and 2,544 kg of banned polythene was seized at the time.

Marketplaces, supermarkets, shop owners, and the general public were also cautioned, and awareness leaflets were distributed, said a press release received here today.

Meanwhile, anti-noise pollution drives were carried out yesterday in Chuadanga and Rajbari districts.

Eight cases were filed and Taka 6,500 realized through three mobile courts.

Sixteen hydraulic horns were seized and several vehicle drivers were cautioned.

The Department of Environment stated that such drives will continue to safeguard public health and the environment.
