DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) – The Danish embassy here today hosted a “Zero Waste Lunch” in Dhaka, bringing together Bangladeshi influencers and changemakers to raise awareness on reducing food waste and promoting sustainable consumption.

The event, held as part of Denmark’s “SDG Facility,” showcased a specially designed menu where ingredients were utilized to their fullest, from preparation to consumption, demonstrating how creativity and innovation in cooking can significantly reduce waste, said a Danish embassy’s release.

“One-third of all food produced globally ends up as waste instead of providing nutrition. This not only contributes to food insecurity for families but also places immense pressure on natural resources,” the embassy noted.

The initiative comes ahead of the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste on September 29 and aims to inspire people to rethink daily habits, adopt practical solutions, and take small but meaningful steps to build a more sustainable future.

The embassy emphasized that collective action and community awareness can help reduce food waste, improve livelihoods, and ensure better use of natural resources.
