6 AL men held in city for disrupting law and order

DHAKA, Sept 22, 2025 (BSS) – The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested six leaders and activists of the Awami League and its affiliated organizations from different parts of the capital city in the last 24 hours.  
 
The arrested have been identified as Awami League leader Abul Hasnat Abdullah's close associate, Ujirpur Upazila AL executive member Md. Kamal Hossain (48), Kadamtali Ward 53 Jubo League activist Md. Monir Hossain (46), AL activist Md. Jamal Hossain (40), Dhaka South City Chhatra League former leader Md. Roni (35), former Chairman of Noakhali District Council and President of Noakhali Municipality AL Abdul Wadud Pintu (64)  and former chairman of Gazipur Union No. 1 and former UP President of Haimchar Thana Mohammad Habibur Rahman Gazi (62).
 
A special team of DB Cyber Division arrested Md. Kamal Hossain from Bailey Road around 10:00 pm and Md. Monir Hossain from the Jurain area around 10:30 pm on Sunday.
 
On the same night, another team of DB Wari Division arrested Abdul Wadud Pintu from Dhanmondi 10/A Road area around 11:30 pm while two separate teams of DB Ramna Division arrested Md. Roni and Mohammad Habibur Rahman Gazi  from Chawkbazar Thana area on Sunday night.
 
In another operation at 1:25 pm today, an operational team from the DB Cyber South division arrested Md. Jamal Hossain from Banasree D Block area.
 
Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrests.
 
The arrested are accused of organizing, financing and supplying people to the flash processions in different places in Dhaka city under the banner of the AL.
