Jubo League leader held in July Uprising murder case

DHAKA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday arrested a leader of the Jubo League in connection with a murder case linked to July Uprising case from Fatulla Thana area on Narayanganj district. 

The arrestee was identified as general secretary of Ward No. 44 of Sutrapur Thana Jubo League Ujjal Das, (44), son of late Haripad Das, a resident of Justice Lalmohan Das Lane, Katherpool, Sutrapur, Dhaka.

He was arrested in a murder case in connection with the July Uprising filed with Sutrapur Police Station on September 1 in 2024, said a police press release. 

The case details said that Nadimul Haque Elem, an active activist of the anti-discrimination movement and a former student of Sheikh Borhan Uddin College was shot dead at Patla Khan Lane adjacent to the intersection of Kabi Nazrul College in Old Dhaka on July 19 last year. 

In the same incident, the leader of the anti-discrimination student movement, Md. Shamsul Alam Arefin filed another case under section 34/109/149/302 of the Penal Code with Sutrapur Police Station on August 24 last year.
