DHAKA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) – The National Citizen Party (NCP) has strongly condemned and protested the harassment of its Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain and throwing eggs at him upon arrival at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s central office in Banglamotor this afternoon, NCP Convener Nahid Islam demanded punishment to those responsible for the security failure.

He said, “We have seen how accused individuals are quickly granted bail in ordinary courts in Bangladesh, after which they roam freely and issue threats to the families of martyrs and injured of July uprising.”

“These incidents, which once occurred domestically, are now happening abroad as well. It is the government’s responsibility to end this situation by removing those who still act as allies of fascism and bringing them to book,” he added.

Nahid also called for the removal of individuals allegedly appointed during the “fascist regime” from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, publication of the list of five people arrested for the attack on Adviser Mahfuz Alam, and expeditious trial of those responsible for the July killings.

“The Awami League cannot be rehabilitated in politics or elections. Any attempt to bring them back will be rejected by the people,” Nahid Islam said, urging all political forces to remain united against fascism and to ensure justice through proper trials.

Senior Joint Member Secretary Nahida Sarwar Niva, Joint Convener Tajnuva Jabin, Joint Member Secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat, and Joint Member Secretary Abdullah Al-Amin were present at the press conference.
