Mentorship training completed to boost DMP bomb disposal unit's skills

DHAKA, Sept 23, 2025 (BSS) - A month-long mentorship training programme conducted by the Anti-Terrorism Assistance (ATA) of the US Embassy in Dhaka for the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Special Action Group under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has been successfully completed.

The training aimed to enhance both the operational capabilities and theoretical knowledge of the unit's personnel, according to a press release issued by the police.

At the certificate awarding ceremony held in the capital, Md. Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Unit, handed over certificates to the participating officers.

According to the DMP, the advanced training provided by ATA will significantly improve the unit's efficiency in handling complex bomb disposal operations. The course covered practical skills as well as in-depth theoretical insights essential for counter-terrorism operations.

The programme was conducted by two experienced American trainers and focused on international best practices in bomb disposal and threat mitigation.
