KHULNA, Sept 24, 2025(BSS) - Administrator of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Firoz Sarker stressed the need for raising awareness at the grassroots level, stating that education and health are the basic issues for the development.

"We must work collectively to make this government initiative a hundred percent successful," he said while presiding a coordination meeting held today (Wednesday) at the Khulna Divisional Commissioner's conference room to ensure the successful implementation of the nationwide Typhoid Vaccination Campaign-2025, set to begin on October 12 under the government's Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI).

Officials informed the meeting that typhoid fever is a preventable infectious disease.

Under the campaign, children aged between 9 months and under 15 years will receive a single dose of Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV).

The campaign will be conducted in two phases: first in educational institutions and permanent vaccination centers from October 12 to 30 and second at community clinics and regular centers from November 1 to 13.

Parents will need to register their children on www.vaxepi.gov.bd using their 17-digit birth registration number to receive the vaccine, which has been certified as halal.

During the meeting, Medical Officer of World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Nazmur Rahman Sajib presented a detailed briefing through a PowerPoint presentation.

Senior KCC officials, police representatives, teachers, and members of different committees attended the event.
