Week-long joint forces drive nets 44 crime suspects: ISPR

DHAKA, Sept 25, 2025 (BSS) - The defence ministry's inter service public relations directorate (ISPR) today said military-led joint forces in a weeklong nationwide drive arrested 44 crime suspects like identified terrorists, snatchers ‍and drug peddlers.

"Units under several infantry divisions and independent brigades of Bangladesh Army carried a few joint operations in different parts of the country including the capital in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies from September 18, 2025 to September 25, 2025," the ISPR said in a statement.

It said the operations yielded arrest of 44 crime suspects like identified terrorists or gangsters extortionists, and people illegally possessing weapons.

It said during the drive, the joint forces seized seven illegally possessed firearms, one cocktail, 132 different types of ammunition, illegal drugs of various types, different locally-made weapons and stolen goods like mobile phones and money.

The ISPR said the people arrested were handed over to concerned police stations for interrogations and initiate subsequent legal process.

"To ensure the public security nationwide, the military is conducting routine patrols at different areas," said the statement that simultaneously urged people to report to nearby military camps if they come cross any suspicious activities.
