Surpardip calls for remaining unity of all

KHAGRACHARI, Sept 26, 2025 (BSS) - Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma today urged all the people irrespective of their religion, cast and creed to remain united with mutual respect, patience and humanitarian values.

“Harmony is not only a word … it is a practice which leads our society on the path of peace and amity”, he said while speaking as the chief guest at a harmony meeting held at the conference room of Matiranga upazila council here tonight.

The meeting was organized with the aim of maintaining peace, order and communal harmony ahead of the Durga Puja and the Kathin Chibar Daan festivals.

He said: “Our main target is to develop quality education, livelihood and environment in Chittagong Hill Tracts. I am pledged-bound to implement the 100% of the government budget allocations on time.”

The adviser said that 40% of this year's budget will be spent on socio-economic development.

Giving importance to ensure the use of modern equipment for agricultural development, the adviser said arrangements should be made for packaging of turmeric and ginger grinding machines, including dry packaging, and for packaging of dry food by converting jackfruit into chips or powder.

He called for maintaining economic prosperity and communal harmony with the cooperation of all communities.

At the meeting, everyone pledged to work together for peace, coexistence, and development in the hilly region.

Adviser’s personal secretary Khondoker Mushfiqur Rahman, 40 BGB Zone Commander Lt. Col. Shahinul Islam, CHT district council member M Shahidul Islam Suman, religious leaders, among others, attended the function. 

Khagrachari deputy commissioner ABM Iftekharul Islam chaired the function.
