DHAKA, Sept 27, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is set to host the two-day Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025 from September 30 to October 1, marking the festive spirit of Durga Puja with a vibrant array of cultural events.
The festival is being organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and managed by the Shilpakala Academy, aiming to promote cultural harmony and showcase traditional performances.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, along with several other advisers, is expected to attend the festival's opening ceremony. Also in attendance will be Cultural Secretary M Mafidur Rahman, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed, and senior officials from various ministries and government agencies.
Diplomats from different countries have also been invited to grace the event.
This year, under the joint initiative of the Ministry and the Academy, several new cultural programs have been introduced to celebrate Bangladesh's diverse religious and cultural traditions. These include the 'Moon Night Joy Ceremony' on the occasions of Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Azha, and a Cultural Festival held earlier this year in observance of Buddha Purnima 2025. The Sardiya Festival adds another significant celebration to this growing lineup of inclusive national events.
The festival will kick off on Tuesday, September 30, with a traditional Jatra pala titled "Mahisasur Mardini, Devi Durga", to be staged at the Suhrawardy Udyan Muktamancha from 6:30pm to 9:00pm.
The concluding event will take place on Wednesday, October 1, at the Nandan Manch of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, also from 6:30pm to 9:00pm, featuring a diverse range of cultural performances.
The Sharadiya Cultural Festival 2025 is open to all, and organizers have encouraged members of the public from all walks of life to join in the celebration of cultural heritage and artistic expression.
