DHAKA, Sept 28, 2025(BSS) - A metropolitan court here today sent the former mayor of Patuakhali municipality Mohiuddin Ahmed to jail in connection with Hafez Md Masudur Rahman murder case in Badda Thana.

Metropolitan Magistrate Juwel Rana, on behalf of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Dhaka after hearing a petition submitted by the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case, passed the order.

The IO of the case Inspector ANM Nuruzzaman of the Detective Branch in his report told the court that during the remand, the former mayor disclosed important information regarding Masud Murder case. 

He (Mohiuddin) should be confined into the jail till the end of the investigation into the case to verify this information, the IO observed.

Mohiuddin was arrested by a team of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) from Dhanmondi area on September 23 and taken on a four-day police remand from a metropolitan magistrate court on September 24 last.

According to the case, Hafez Md Masudur Rahman was injured by police firing on Badda link road during the anti discrimination students’ movement on July 19 last year.

He was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
On November 9 last year, a murder case was lodged with Badda police in this connection.
