Akhter seeks expatriates' strong role in building new Bangladesh

NEW YORK, Sept 28, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen has urged the Bangladeshi expatriates to play a strong role in building new Bangladesh.

"We hope the Bangladeshi expatriates will play a strong role in building a new Bangladesh," he said while addressing an event titled "NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis" at a hotel here on Saturday.

Akhter Hossen said the July Uprising paved a way to create new leadership in Bangladesh and sought the role of the expatriates in this regard.

He said the new generation in Bangladesh wants to hold all accountable and ensure the rights of all people.

About the voting rights of non-resident Bangladeshis, Akhter said the NCP has taken a firm stance in ensuring the voting rights of the expatriates.

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus delivered speech at the event as the keynote speaker.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP leader Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer Syeed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, Jamaat leader Mohammad Nakibur Rahman and NCP First Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara were present at the event, among others.
