2 ex-lawmakers among 13 AL men held in city

DHAKA, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - Thirteen leaders and activists of Awami League including two former lawmakers were arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act from different parts of the capital in the last 24 hours.
 
Deputy Commissioner of DB (media and public relations) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed that they were arrested under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
 
The arrestees include ex-lawmaker from Brahmanbaria-5 constituency Faizur Rahman Badal and ex-lawmaker from women's reserved seat-324 Tamanna Nusrat Bubli.
 
A squad of Detective Branch (DB) Motijheel Division arrested Faizur Rahman Badal from Nikunja area under ?Khilkhet Police Station around 10.20 pm on Sunday.
 
DB-Cyber ??Division arrested the female lawmaker Bubli in a raid at Mohammadpur Police Station area on Sunday.
 
Eleven other arrestees are: Sheikh Hasina Trinamool Sangrami League President and former Titumir College Chhatra League member Md. Manikurur Rahman (35), former Jatiya Sramik League Ward 22 Rampura Legal Affairs Secretary and Sheikh Hasina Trinamool Sangrami League member Md. Abdur Razzak Shakil (59), Bangladesh Sramik Federation Secretary and Sheikh Hasina Trinamool Sangrami League member Md. Alam Matbar (58), Sheikh Hasina Trinamool Sangrami League member Md. Saiful Islam (37), Jhenaidah district Maheshpur Thana Jubo League member Md. Makched (39), Chuadanga district Jibannagar Thana Raipur Union Awami League member Md. Kayem Hossain (41), former Chawkbazar Police Station Ward 31 Awami League member Riyazuddin Ahmed Manik (50), Bangabandhu Sainik League member Md. Nazrul Islam Sumon (37). Dhaka Metropolitan South Jubo League Education Training and Library Secretary Ebadul Haque Sabuj (35), former vice-president of Chhatra League Dhaka Metropolitan South Mahbubul Haque Hirak (60) and Jagannath University Chhatra League leader Abiruzzaman alias Abir (25).
