CHATTOGRAM, Sept. 29, 2025 (BSS): Chattogram City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain emphasized the importance of addressing traffic congestion and transportation issues to enhance the city's development as a key hub for international trade. 

He announced plans to make Chattogram traffic-free through the implementation of a monorail system. The initial field survey for the monorail project has already started.
 
Dr. Shahadat made these remarks during a meeting held at the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) office at Tiger Pass in Chattogram on Monday afternoon.
 
Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury, President of the Greater Chattogram Economic Forum, and Kawsar Alam Chowdhury, Chief Representative of Arab Contractors and Orascom Peninsula Consortium, presented the progress of the monorail project to City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain.
 
 Superintending Engineer Abu Sadat Tayyab will oversee the project on behalf of Chattogram City Corporation, with collaboration from various agencies including BIDA. 
 
CCC Secretary Md. Ashraful Amin, Chief Engineer Anisur Rahman, Chief Accounting Officer Humayun Kabir Chowdhury, and other officials attended the meeting.
