CHATTOGRAM, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - The Commander of RAB-7, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hafizur Rahman said that security measures have been intensified to ensure safety at the Puja mandaps in Chattogram city, which includes setting up special check posts and increased patrolling on roads.
About 25 check posts have been established at key locations such as the Dhaka-Chattogram highway and Sitakunda jungle Salimpur. Moreover, plainclothes surveillance team is conducting round-the-clock monitoring to enhance security during the Durga Puja celebrations.
Besides, a special team has been deployed to quickly address any rumors spread on social media. Lieutenant Colonel Md. Hafizur Rahman revealed the information during a press briefing after visiting the puja mandaps at Rahmatganj.
Commander of RAB-7 Hafizur Rahman also visited five puja mandap premises of the Deepika Sangha in the city, including the Bhairab Bari Mandap premises and Mahajan Ghata.
Durga Puja, the largest Hindu religious festival, began on September 28 with the Shasthi Puja and will conclude on October 2 with the immersion of idols of goddess Durga.
Hafizur Rahman encouraged the local public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Bangladesh Puja Udjavan Parishad Chattogram Metropolitan President Professor Arpan Kanti Banerjee, General Secretary Advocate Nikhil Kumar Nath and local dignitaries were also present at the press briefing.
