CHATTOGRAM, Sept 29, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 18 fishermen from Chattogram have been missing for 16 days in the Bay of Bengal.

Selina Akhter, wife of the missing trawler owner Ali Akbar, has filed a general diary at the Sadarghat Naval Police Station in Chattogram seeking their rescue.

She last spoke to her husband around 9:30 pm on September 13, where he mentioned that she had lost network connectivity after going far away in the dawn. Since then, all communication has been ceased, and their phones are switched off.

Selina Akhter filed the general diary on September 24, mentioning that her husband and 14 others, including boatman Abu Taher, staff Jamal, and cook Rubel, went fishing on the boat "FB Khaja Ajmir" from Baklia Police Station in Chattogram on September 9.

Despite initial thoughts of network issues, the absence of any contact for over 10 days has left them worried. The police are also unable to provide any information on their whereabouts.

OC Mizanur Rahman of Sadarghat Naval Police Station stated that a search is ongoing based on the victim's complaint, with messages sent to all police stations in the country to aid in finding the missing fishermen.
