Coast Guard arrests 24 smugglers while smuggling cement to Myanmar

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 30, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Coast Guard arrested 24 smugglers who were attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of cement from Bangladesh to Myanmar in exchange for drugs.

During the operation, two boats and 850 bags of cement were confiscated. 

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq revealed that the Coast Guard Chattogram Base carried out a special operation based on confidential information today and uncovered an illegal transfer of cement from a cargo boat to a fishing boat, bypassing customs and taxes, with Myanmar as the intended destination. 

During the operation, the smugglers were arrested and  two boats involved in the smuggling, along with a significant amount of cement, were confiscated. Legal proceedings against the smugglers are currently underway.
