NARAYANGANJ, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - Director General (DG) of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) Rear Admiral Md Ziaul Hoque has said the force will ensure maximum security during immersions of the goddess Durga on Vijaya Dashami slated for October 2.

"We will be on alert at immersion sites to ensure maximum security during immersion of the goddess Durga on the river marking the Vijaya Dashami," he said.

He was speaking to journalists after visiting Ramakrishna Mission Ashram Puja Mandap in Narayanganj city on Wednesday morning.

Officials from various levels of the Coast Guard were present at the time.

BCG Chief said they are responsible for overall security of temples and Puja Mandap in coastal and riverine areas of the country including Dhaka, Chittagong, and Narayanganj.

"Our special diving team is always ready to deal with any untoward incident at idol immersion sites," he said.

He called upon all concerned not to carry extra people on the boats during immersion and those who do not know how to swim should not enter the river.

"Public awareness campaign is being conducted alongside round-the-clock patrols to avoid unpleasant incidents. So far, no untoward incident has occurred. We hope that the religious festival will be celebrated in a peaceful, safe and festive atmosphere.
