DHAKA, Oct 1, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today sent Shariful Islam, a fugitive accused in the Jisan murder case to jail after police re-arrested him from Feni railway station following his escape from custody in June.

Shariful, 22, son of late Shafik Ahmed of Haripur village under Nawabganj Police Station in Dinajpur, was produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court after his arrest.

The investigating officer sought his detention in jail custody and Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Sefatullah granted the plea.

Shariful, one of the charge-sheeted accused in the murder case of 14-year-old Jisan Hossain under Khilgaon Police Station, was nabbed early today from the Feni railway station area.

The case is currently at the deposition stage in the court of the 3rd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge of Dhaka.

Earlier, on June 19, while being escorted from the courtroom of the 3rd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge to the court lockup, Shariful attacked police, freed himself from handcuffs and fled the premises.

Following the incident, Sub-Inspector Md. Ripon Molla, in charge of the court lockup, filed a case against him with Kotwali Police Station for escaping custody after assaulting police personnel.
