CHATTOGRAM, Oct 2, 2025 (BSS) - The five-day Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, concluded today in Chattogram with the immersion of Goddess Durga's idols at Patenga and Khalurghat beaches amid festivity and tight security.
Thousands of devotees thronged the banks and beaches to bid farewell to the Goddess before the idols were carried for immersion in water bodies.
Marking Bijoya Dashami, a vibrant procession started from the city's historic JM Sen Hall Temple, parading through major streets before ending at Patenga sea beach where the immersion took place.
Earlier in the morning, devotees in colorful attire visited prominent mandaps including JM Sen Hall and Chatteshwari Temple, offering prayers and seeking blessings.
They exchanged greetings and embraced one another with the customary words "Shuvo Bijoya."
Police said a total of 2,494 puja mandaps were set up in Chattogram this year - 292 in the city and 2,202 across 15 upazilas of the district.
Security forces were deployed at the immersion points to ensure peaceful celebrations.
