Army rescues 2 alive following incidents of boat capsize in Kaptai Lake

DHAKA, Oct 2, 2025 (BSS) – Army personnel along with members of fire service rescued two persons alive and recovered three dead bodies following an incident of boat capsize in Kaptai Lake of Rangamati.    

In a sudden storm on September 30 night, several boats sank in the BFDC Ghat, Bhaibonchhara, Langadu Launch Ghat, Guilshakhali Beel and Bhasanyadam areas of Longadu region of Rangamati, said a release of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate this evening.

“With a frantic effort, Army successfully carried out rescue operation on September 30 . . . after the incidents of boat capsize. Within 15 minutes of getting information, the army quickly rushed into the spot and started a joint rescue operation with the fire service and others,” it said.

The army rescued two persons alive and recovered one child's dead body on that night, while two more dead bodies this morning.

On September 30, another boat capsized in Mahajanpara of Naniarchar upazila in which two persons  - - Denizen Chakma and Jitesh Chakma went missing while four other passengers swam to shore, the release mentioned. 

Although the army, police and locals rescued the boat, two youths have not been found till date, the ISPR added.
