Muladi Mayor Rubel sent to jail in connection with a case

DHAKA, Oct 3, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent Mayor of Muladi, Barishal  Shafiqul Zaman Rubel to jail in a case filed under the Anti Terrorism Act  with Gulshan Police Station for raising provocative slogans.

Police produced Rubel, also vice-president of Muladi Upazila Awami League  (AL), before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court today.

After hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam rejected the bail  plea of Rubel and ordered to send him to jail. 

Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Shafiqul  Zaman Rubel from Gulshan area this morning.

According to the case documents, he along with the leaders and workers of  Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and its banned student wing Bangladesh Chhatra  League (BCL) brought out a procession at Jabbar tower under Gulshan Police 
Station on April 22 last.

On the same day, police filed a case with Gulshan Police Station under the  Bangladesh's Anti Terrorism Act, 2009.
