BAGERHAT, Oct 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Kachikhali patrol team has successfully removed plastic waste from the Kachikhali beach in the Sundarbans as part of a regular clean-up initiative.

The plastic waste was collected and removed throughout the day on Friday, officials said.

East Sundarbans Bagerhat Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Rezaul Karim Chowdhury told BSS that the beach will now be cleaned once every month to help maintain ecological balance and protect wildlife in the area.

Every year , Kachikhali beach experiences a heavy influx of domestic and foreign tourists between October and March. Many visitors consume soft drinks, chips other plastic packaged items during their trips and carelessly discard those plastic items on the beach, contributing to pollution in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Forest officials urged tourists to be more responsible and dispose of waste in designated areas to help preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of the Sundarbans.
