DHAKA, Oct 4, 2025 (BSS) – Sharadiya Durga Puja, the greatest religious festival of Bengali Hindus, was celebrated across the country peacefully this year than ever before with the cooperation of all.
No untoward incident was reported from any puja mandap across the country during the celebrations. All believe that this was possible due to the sincere efforts and all corcerned including the government, law enforcement agencies, armed forces and political parties.
Police, RAB, Ansar and other law enforcement agencies played a strong role in ensuring the peaceful celebration of the puja. There was also tight security at puja mandap and surrounding areas across the country by the army and BGB.
Besides, leaders and activists of various political parties, including BNP and Jamaat, also worked for ensuring security at puja mandaps in their respective areas.
For security reasons, CCTV cameras were installed in the pavilions and volunteer committees were formed to guard the pavilions.
Puja Udjapan Parishad leaders said that due to the appropriate steps taken by the interim government, this year's Sharadiya Durga Puja was celebrated smoothly and peacefully. No untoward incident was recorded anywhere in the country, they said.
The 5-day festival, which was began on September 5, concluded with the immersion of the idols on October 2 on the day of Bijoya Dashami.
This year, Durga Puja was celebrated in 33,355 mandaps across the country. The number of Puja Mandap was 258 in Dhaka city.
In addition to the administration, each Puja Udjapan Committee also took special security measures to celebrate the festival smoothly in respective mandaps.
Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad President Basudeb Dhar told BSS that this year Sharadiya Durga Puja was celebrated peacefully across the country. No untoward incident took place anywhere.
He mentioned that the Durga Puja was successfully and peacefully completed due to the active cooperation of the government, law enforcement agencies, intelligence agencies, Bangladesh Army and various political parties.
On the evening of Bijoya Dashami, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam expressed satisfaction over the peaceful celebration of the Durga Puja in the country and told reporters that this time Durga Puja was celebrated in a joyful and festive manner without any untoward incident.
"We were afraid that there might be an attempt to create chaos somewhere around Durga Puja. There were some attempts at one or two places, but the law enforcement agencies immediately prevented them,” he said.
Thanking everyone involved for this success, Baharul Alam said the peaceful celebration of Durga Puja has been possible due to the sincere cooperation from high-ups of the government including home affairs adviser as well as officials of the concerned departments.
