Rallies surrounding Secretariat, Jamuna banned from Tuesday

DHAKA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has imposed a ban on all kinds of gatherings and rallies in Bangladesh Secretariat and Jamuna, official residence of the Chief Adviser and their surrounding areas from Tuesday.
 
In a public order signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, the DMP imposed the restriction under the powers vested in Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76) in the interest of maintaining public order and ensuring safety and security.
 
According to the notification, any kind of meeting, rally, mass gathering, procession, human chain, sit-in strike, procession, has been banned from Tuesday until further orders in the Bangladesh Secretariat (including adjacent areas).
 
The ban will also be applicable for the surrounding areas of Jamuna (areas between Hotel InterContinental Crossing, Kakrail Mosque Crossing, Officers Club Crossing and Mintu Road Crossing).
