KHULNA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) - World Children's Day and Child Rights Week was inaugurated today in the district in a befitting manner.

The Deputy Commissioner's Office and the District Shishu Academy, with support from the Khulna Women's Affairs Department and Islamic Relief Bangladesh, jointly organized the event.

Additional District Commissioner (Education & ICT) Nurul Hai Mohammad Anas addressed the function as the chief guest with District Child Affairs Officer Md Saddam Hossain in the chair.

This year's theme is "Listen to children today, act for children." 

At the event, officials and guests stressed the importance of protecting every child's physical, mental, cultural, and educational rights.

They urged families, schools, and institutions to create child-friendly environments and to avoid imposing ideas on children by force.

Speakers said nurturing children with affection, knowledge, and freedom of thought will produce citizens capable of making positive contributions to society.

Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam and Deputy Director (Acting) of the Women's Affairs Department Suriya Siddika, among others, also addressed the event.

The event concluded with a lively cultural performance by children.
