DHAKA, Oct 6, 2025 (BSS) – Directorate General of the  Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) has ordered the formation of committees to prevent sexual harassment of women and children in medical education and services institutions in accordance with the court's order.

The directive was given in a letter recently signed by the director (administration) of DGNM, Md. Momin Uddin (Deputy Secretary).

The letter said that as per the High Court's order, a request has been made to form a Workplace Safety and Security Committee (WSPC) and organize regular meetings to prevent sexual harassment and take protective measures in all health education and service institutions.

Earlier, on January 9, a High Court bench comprising Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice S. M. Maniruzzaman ordered the formation of committees to prevent sexual harassment in government and private offices.

Lawyers Syeda Nasrin and Shahinuzzaman stood for the writ petition.
