Ex-MP Bubli on 2-day remand in anti-terrorism case

DHAKA, Oct 7, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed Tamanna Nusrat Bubli, former lawmaker for reserved seats for women and leader of Narsingdi district Awami League, on a two-day remand in a case lodged under Anti-Terrorism Act with the capital's Tejgaon Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saifuzzaman passed the order as police produced Bubli before the court and pleaded to place her on a 10-day remand. The court later sent her back to jail.

Police, on September 28, 2025, arrested Tamanna Nusrat Bubli from the capital's Mirpur area.

According to the case documents, on September 24, 2025, several miscreants belonging to the Bangladesh Awami League, Jubo League and now banned Bangladesh Chhatra League and their associate bodies gathered with banners in front of the Ananda Cinema Hall under Tejgaon Police Station to hold an illegal procession.

The accused then marched towards the Farmgate intersection and blasted cocktails to create panic among the public. Police filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station the following day under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
