DHAKA, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested 11 leaders and activists of Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations from different parts of the capital city on charges disrupting the law and order by bringing out flash processions. 
 
 Of the arrestees, seven are leaders of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and four others are members of AL and its affiliated organizations. 
 
The arrestees came from Kotalipara of Gopalganj district with the aim of deteriorating the law and order situation in Dhaka Metropolitan City and creating fear in the public through subversive acts.
 
Deputy Commissioner of DB (media and public relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrest.
 
The arrestees have been identified as BCL leaders Chanchal Mia alias Enayet Karim Chanchal (35), Rashidul Islam Ronti (27), Shahid Kazi (22), Rajib Sikder (19), Raihan Paik (21), Rabiul Mia (21), former co-secretary of the banned BCL Dhaka South City Rakib Hossain Jamadar (31), AL activist Md. Hannan Mia (50), president of Madhyapara Union Jubo League of Sirajdikhan Thana in Munshiganj district Md. Islam Bepari (45), former mayor of Faridganj Municipality in Chandpur district and general secretary of the municipal AL Md. Mahfuzul Haque (42) and vice-president of ward 6 of the municipal Jubo League of Karimganj Thana in Kishoreganj district Md. Golam Mohammad Sujan (50).
 
DB sources said a team of DB Ramna division arrested Chanchal Mia, Rashidul Islam Ronti, Md. Hannan Mia, Shahid Kazi, Rajib Sikder, Raihan Paik and Rabiul Mia from Hatirpul area based on secret information around 10:00 pm on Tuesday.
 
The arrestees came to Dhaka from Kotalipara in Gopalganj to collect people and participate in various quick processions. 
 
A team of DB Wari division conducted a drive in Hatkhola Road area of Wari police station and arrested Md. Islam Bepari around 09:00 pm on Tuesday. They also arrested Md. Mahfuzul Haque from Demra police station area the same day. 
 
A team from DB Mirpur division conducted a raid in Shahbagh police station area and arrested Md. Golam Mohammad Sujan around 09:25 pm on Tuesday.
 
On the other hand, a team DB-Gulshan division conducted a raid in Kafrul police station area and arrested Rakib Hossain Jamadar around 07:30am today.
