CHATTOGRAM, Oct 8, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Navy rescued 26 fishermen from the trawler MV Tajminur Rahman, which suffered an engine breakdown about 27 nautical miles off the Cox's Bazar lighthouse.

The trawler had 26 fishermen from Maheshkhali on board. The navy ship 'Banouja Shaheed Mohibullah' rescued the trawler during a patrol of the sea and coastal areas as part of the 'Ma Hilsa Conservation-2025' campaign.

Navy sources reported that a trawler's unusual movements prompted a navy ship to approach it.

Upon closer inspection, navy members noticed distress signals from the fishermen on board. The navy promptly rescued the stranded fishermen, providing them with food, water, and first aid.

The rescued fishermen and their trawler were safely brought ashore by the navy ship, where they were reunited with their families and owners.

The fishermen explained that their trawler's engine had malfunctioned on October 3, 2025, leaving them adrift at sea after a fishing trip that began on September 30.
