Police plant palm saplings in Jhenaidah to prevent lightning strikes

JHENAIDAH, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - Arappur Highway Police have planted 200 palm saplings along the Jhenaidah-Chuadanga highway in Bora area of the district to help prevent lightning strikes and maintain environmental balance.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mrityunjoy Biswas of Arappur Highway Police inaugurated the plantation programme on Thursday morning.

He said the saplings were planted along both sides of the highway from Sadhuhati to 10 miles under Sadar upazila.

The initiative aims to reduce the risk of lightning strikes, preserve ecological balance, and enhance the beauty of the roadside area, the OC added.
