DHAKA, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury today said Germany views Bangladesh as a potential destination for future investment.

"Germany considers Bangladesh a promising country for investment. However, a stable political environment and a government formed through an acceptable election are essential for attracting foreign investment," he said.

He made the remarks at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan following a meeting with the newly appointed German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Rdiger Lotz.

The veteran BNP leader said that discussions with the German envoy focused on business, trade, investment, and cultural cooperation.

"We also discussed joint skill development programmes with Germany, particularly in the IT, manufacturing, and AI sectors," Khasru added.

Regarding the National Consensus Commission, he emphasised the need to move forward based on the consensus already achieved. "There is no scope to go beyond the consensus reached by the political parties regarding the implementation of the July Charter," he said.

"There were several points proposed by the BNP on which consensus was not achieved, and we accepted that. Therefore, all other parties must also accept the existing consensus," Khasru further said.

When asked about the recent meeting of diplomats at Saber Hossain Chowdhury's residence, Amir Khasru said, "Where diplomats choose to meet is their business. We have nothing to be concerned about."

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir led the meeting with the German Ambassador, while Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Acting Chairman's Adviser on International Affairs Humayun Kabir, and Organizing Secretary Shama Obaed were present.
