Auto rickshaw driver Mizanur’s suspected killer Nahid arrested

CHANDPUR, Oct 9, 2025(BSS) - Matlab Uttar police has arrested Nahid Gazi (35), a suspected killer of an auto-rickshaw driver Miznur Rahman from Dhaka’s Badda area last night.

The arrested Nahid Gazi, son of Md Hannan Gazi of village Mohammadpur under Ekhlaspur union of the upazila has already been sent to jail through court, said Md Rabiul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Matlab Uttar Thana today. 

The victim Mizanur Rahman, the auto-rickshaw driver, was the son of Foyez Ullah of Mijibari village under the same union of the upazila.

According to police, Mizanur Rahman was mercilessly beaten up and shot dead by unidentified miscreants in the night of August 13 last at Hashimpur village of the upazila. 

Police on August 14 recovered the body of Mizanur from in front of a shop owned by one Mintu of the village and sent it to Chandpur general hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sharmin Akhter, wife of Mizanur Rahman filed a case against unidentified miscreants in this connection.

Sub-Inspector Delwar Hossain of Matlab Uttar also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case said that the arrested Nahid after the killing called up one Nuru Khalashi and threatened him to kill. He used the mobile phone of Nazmul, a younger brother of Nahid, and claimed over phone that I have killed Mizanr, next target is you, the IO said.

Police by using modern technology and scrutinizing call records of Nazmul, could find out the clue of the murder and finally arrested him from Dhaka, the IO added.
