Baby Crocodile caught in fishing net released into Sundarbans

KHULNA, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - A baby crocodile caught in the fishing net of a fisherman in Boghi village of Sharankhola under Bagerhat district was released into the Sundarbans on Thursday.

According to the Forest Department, a fisherman from Boghi village set up a fishing net in a canal near the forest. Around 7 am, while pulling up the net, he discovered a small crocodile trapped in it.

Upon receiving information, members of the VTRT (Volunteer Tiger Response Team), led by Alam Hawlader of the wildlife conservation group Tiger Team, rescued the crocodile from the spot. 

Around 9 am, the two-foot-long baby crocodile was released into the river near the Terabeka Forest Patrol Outpost in the Sundarbans.

Sharankhola Forest Station Ranger Md. Khalilur Rahman of the Eastern Sundarbans Division confirmed the release of the baby crocodile into the river.
