Dulu for quick implementation of Teesta Master Plan

LALMONIRHAT, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) – Former deputy minister and Organizing Secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Principal Asadul Habib Dulu has stressed the need for quick implementation of the Teesta Master Plan for saving the people of the northern region from impending disaster.
 
“The people of the northern region would have to face disaster if the government did not implement the Teesta Master Plan quickly,” he said.
 
He was addressing a public rally organized by Teesta River Protection Movement held at SS Government High School under Hatibandha Upazila in Lalmonirhat district this afternoon.
 
Dulu, also the main coordinator of the Teesta River Protection Movement, has called upon for formulating a realistic and long term plan for ensuring the fair distribution of Teesta River water alongside digging the river and taking measures for rehabilitation of the Teesta riverside people.
 
The BNP leader described the Teesta River as an inseparable part not for the life of the northern belt, but also for the entire country.
 
“Agriculture, livelihood and environment of the northern regions have been affected by various means due to water drying up of the river. Save the Teesta means to save the North Bengal and economy of the country,” he said.
 
Coordinator of the Teesta River Protection Movement and BNP central executive committee member Barrister Hasan Rajib Prodhan presided over the meeting.
 
Coordinator of the Movement and Hatibandha upazila BNP Convenor Mosharraf Hossain, Lalmonirhat district BNP Joint Secretary General AKM Mominul Haque, ABM Faruk Siddiqui and Afzal Hossain, among others, spoke on the occasion.
