DMP magistrate sentences 23 persons in Mirpur anti-drug drive

DHAKA, Oct 9, 2025 (BSS) - The Special Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has sentenced 23 people to various terms of imprisonment in an anti-drug drive in the capital's Mirpur division.

A total of 23 indivduals were arrested in an anti-drug drive at Millat Camp under Pallabi Police Station, Mirpur-10 roundabout, Maisha Construction under Rupnagar Police Station, Baganbari Residential Area under Darus Salam Police Station, Agargaon Taltala under Kafrul Police Station and Gudaraghat area under Shahali Police Station.

Later, the arrested persons were produced before the court of DMP Special Metropolitan Magistrate Md Bilal Hossain of Mirpur Division, which sentenced 11 of them to a maximum of three months imprisonment and the remaining to a minimum 15 days imprisonment.

Crimes like theft, robbery, drugs, eve-teasing and illegal encroachment on the road are being tried in a regular and summary manner in Dhaka Metropolitan City.
