RANGPUR, Oct 10, 2025 (BSS) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami central executive council member and former acting secretary general ATM Azharul Islam has said the fate of working people can be changed by implementing Islamic labor laws in the country.

“For this, all patriotic and honest citizens must gather under the flag of Islam to build a corruption-free humane society according to the provisions of the holy Al-Quran,” he said.

He said this while speaking as the chief guest at a workers' welfare rally organized by the Workers' Welfare Federation at the Badarganj Model Multipurpose High School ground in Badarganj upazila of Rangpur on Friday afternoon.

Mohammad Shahinur Islam, president of the Badarganj upazila branch of the Workers' Welfare Federation, presided over the rally, moderated by its general secretary Mohammad MA Matin.

General secretary of the central committee of the Bangladesh Land Port Workers' Union Professor Abul Hashem Badal, Rangpur district president of the Workers' Welfare Federation Mohammad Belal Abedin, Jamaat-e-Islami Badarganj Upazila ameer Moulana Kamruzzaman Kabir addressed the rally as special guests.

ATM Azharul Islam said, workers are the friends of Allah. Working people were the first to accept the invitation of Islam from the Prophet (PBUH). Workers were the first to be martyred in the path of Islam.

“If Islam is established in society and the state, no one will be able to build mountains of illegal wealth. Poverty will be eradicated from the country in five years through a zakat-based economy,” he said.

He regretted that due to the capitalist state system, workers are being exploited and deprived today. Thousands of workers have become unemployed due to the closure of various industries including jute and sugar. Garment workers do not get fair wages, he added.

“Only Islamic labor policies can eliminate this crisis. To ensure rights of the people, the July Charter must be given a legal basis. The fundamental rights of the people must be ensured in this fascist-free country,” he said.
