10 more AL men arrested over sudden procession plot in capital

DHAKA, Nov 16, 2025 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police has detained 10 more leaders and activists of the banned Awami League (AL) and its affiliated organizations for allegedly planning and financing flash processions aimed at triggering unrest in the capital.

DB officials said the arrests were made in a series of coordinated raids across different areas of the city over the last 24 hours. Units from the Motijheel, Gulshan, Cyber, Wari and Mirpur divisions took part in the operations.

Those arrested are Abdur Rahman Jamil alias Sagar, 33, General Secretary, Char Lorenz Union Swechchhasebak League, Lakshmipur, Jewel Bala, 26, Legal Affairs Secretary, Satpar Govt. Nazrul College Chhatra League, Gopalganj, Jewel Hossain, 45, Organizing Secretary of Otra Union Awami League, Barishal, Md. Salman Hossain Emon, 32, Vice-President, Ward 40, Bhatara, Kariulla Sarkar, 52, former Organizing Secretary of Palash Upazila Awami League, Narsingdi, Md. Tanvir Haque Nadim, 33, Chhatra League President of Ward 40, Bhatara, Md. Humayun Mia, 45, Vice-President, Unit 1, Ward 24 Awami League, Tejgaon, Tariqul Islam Joy, 25, Joint General Secretary, Mohsin Hall Chhatra League, Dhaka University, Asaduzzaman Naeem, 23, Chhatra League activist, Galachipa, Patuakhali and Md. Nasirul Islam Himel, 35, Chhatra League activist, Mymensingh.

Deputy Commissioner of DB of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Muhammad Talebur Rahman confirmed their arrests saying that legal proceedings are underway against all 10 accused.
