ACC submits charge sheet against ex-secy Dr. Prashanta for corruption

DHAKA, Dec 03, 2025 (BSS) - The ACC today submitted a charge sheet against former secretary and project director of ‘Ektee Bari-Ektee Khamar’ Dr. Prashanta Kumar Roy for concealing wealth, acquiring illegal assets and money laundering.

This information was disclosed at a regular media briefing at the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) headquarters here by the Deputy Director of commission’s Public Relations Department Md. Akhtarul Islam.

According to the ACC, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Roy, concealed information of assets worth about Taka 1,20,93,351 in his wealth statement and made false and baseless declarations, by doing so, he has violated section 26(2) of the ACC Act- 2004.

In addition, he also acquired immovable and movable assets worth about Taka 77,53,767 through unholy means that is inconsistent with his known sources of income and kept them under his possession. 

He also deposited a total of Taka 1,85,53,719 in 12 bank accounts opened in his and his daughters’ names and later withdrawn or transferred the funds. Based on these allegations, charge sheets have been pressed against him under sections 26(2) and 27(1) of the Anti-Corruption Commission Act, 2004 and sections 4(2) and 4(3) of the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.

Dr. Prashanta Kumar Roy was a secretary of the Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry and also served as a Project Director of government owned ‘Ekti Bari-Ekti Khamar (One house-one farm) for long time. 

He hailed from Goptamari village under Batiaghata Police Station of Khulna district. He went on retirement several years back and is currently residing in a flat at Kadirabad Housing Society in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
