DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has named the newly renovated road from Kasaibari to Kanchkura Bazar after the renowned Islamic scholar and widely respected religious figure, Muhammadullah Hafezzi.

DNCC Administrator Mohammad Azaz officially inaugurated the newly named ‘Hafezzi Huzur Sarani’ at the Kasaibari Rail Gate area.

During the inauguration, the administrator said, “We must move our country forward together. Hafezzi Huzur was a pioneer among the scholars and religious leaders who played a significant role for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh.”

While scholars once focused solely on religious education, Hafezzi Huzur actively involved the religious community in both social and political spheres, he said.

Azad said Hafezzi Huzur was not affiliated with any political party, and he was respected by all scholars in the country.

In memory of his contributions, this road has been named after him, he said.

The administrator also announced that the main road from Azampur to Colony will be named after the martyred freedom fighter Abdul Latif.

Local dignitaries and representatives from various political parties were present at the event.
