LAKSHMIPUR, Dec 11, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie today said employment opportunities will be created and an unemployment allowance introduced if the BNP comes to power in the next Jatiya Sangsad elections.
"No one will remain unemployed in the country if BNP forms the next government," he said while addressing a yard meeting (Uthan Boithak) organised by the Mohila Dal Ward No. 1 unit of Lakshmipur municipality.
If BNP comes to power, new employment avenues and overseas labour markets would be created, Anee said.
Recalling the contributions of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, he said Zia became a leader of the masses by initiating canal-digging programmes, this is why the BNP is known as the party of the people.
He added that Zia created labour markets in the Middle East during his three-and-a-half-year tenure, which was later expanded by Begum Khaleda Zia, strengthening the country's economy.
Annie said the health condition of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is currently critical and urged all to pray for her early recovery.
"We have to reach out to mothers and sisters to ensure the victory of the paddy sheaf candidate. Women of the present generation are leading the country. The nation has changed and moved forward. If the BNP comes to power, the rights of women will be ensured," he added.
BNP Lakshmipur Municipality unit President Rezaul Karim Liton, BNP leader Arifur Rahman, District Mohila Dal General Secretary Fatema Akhter Sumi Bhuiyan and others were present at the meeting.
Hundreds of women from different parts of the district joined the programme.
