Victory Day celebrated at Bangladesh mission in Kolkata

DHAKA, Dec 16, 2025 (BSS) - The Victory Day was observed with due honour and multi-phase programmes today at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Kolkata, paying tributes to the martyrs of the Liberation War.

The national flag was hoisted this morning at the Deputy High Commission premises in the presence of all officials and staff, according to an official release received here. 

Messages from the President, the Chief Adviser, and the Foreign Adviser were read out during the programme.

The first phase of the observance concluded with an address by the Acting Deputy High Commissioner, who presided over the event, followed by a special prayer for the welfare of the country and the nation.

In the second phase, eminent Kolkata-based artist Shubhaprasanna Bhattacharya created a painting featuring the national flag of Bangladesh at the Deputy High Commission premises.

Officials and employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Sonali Bank Limited stationed in Kolkata were also present on the occasion.

Later in the evening, a cultural programme was organised with the participation of family members of the mission officials and Bangladeshi students studying at various educational institutions in West Bengal, marking the third phase of the celebrations.
